Notes:

Affidavit by Katherine Perl dated 3 January 1948. As the wife of the merchant Jakob Perl, she confirms that Houdremont remained a customer of the shop, although the National Socialists ordered a boycott. When Jakob Perl, after his shop had been destroyed on 9 November 1938, fled abroad, Houdremont expressed his lively interest in him and in the fate of the witness who had reopened the shop in Essen. Also he occasionally remarked during the war that the war was madness and was lost at the outset. (50)
