Affidavit by August Buschmann dated 16 September 1948. When in September 1944 the occupation was expected shortly, Houdremont, on a tour through the works with the witness, who was chairman of the Grievance Committee, exhorted the plant leaders, foremen and employee representatives and also the foreign workers, to preserve calm and order. He promised to see to it that labor and catering were safeguarded. When they had visited 30-40 plants, the Gestapo prevented them from continuing with their efforts. (60-61)
