Notes:

Copy of the report made by Houdremont to the Commander of the Essen area, Colonel Raff, on 25 May 1945. In this report, which was made upon request of the Commander, Houdremont asks for an examination of the firm by experts. He describes the personnel policy of the Krupp firm since 1933, its relations to the Party, the firm's development since 1918, aiming at peacetime production and which then was, against its wishes, more and more turned again towards production of war material by the state. Contrary to the slogans used in public, there prevailed a resentment against Krupp in govvernment agencies. The firm did not participate in state enterprises, nor did it acquire property by the political change. It always maintained relations with the industry of other belligerent nations for the exchange of experience. (38-53)
