Affidavit Director Hans Kallen, dated 29 December 1947. He has been in close cooperation with Professor Houdremont since 1927. By individual examples he demonstrates that Houdremont in particular fostered and developed the traditional of Krupp's research, that of fundamental science. The investigations carried out by Krupp during the last years proved the firm's fundamental direction towards peace-production. Nor did armamnt and war change its specialized subjects of research. Houdremont endeavored to refuse official orders. His "Manual on the Development of Special Steel" is clearly a proof of the pronounced direction for peace by the leader of Krupp's reseearch. (74-79)
